Project Manager

Country: Palestine

Closing Date:  March 7th 2018

Duty Station: Jerusalem and West Bank

Period: 12 month

Starting Date: March 19th 2018

Main objective: To manage the implementation of the project “Mustaqbaluna (Il nostro futuro) – Incremento delle opportunità di lavoro per la popolazione vulnerabile in Palestina”

Reporting to: AVSI Palestine Country Representative

 

 

Specific duties: To manage the activities of the Management Committee in particular through a careful and systematic coordination and involvement of several local responsibles of the project activities, in order to ensure the achievement of the project’s objectives.

To manage and monitor the implementation of the activities foreseen the project “Mustaqbaluna (Il nostro futuro) – Incremento delle opportunità di lavoro per la popolazione vulnerabile in Palestina” funded by AICS;

To supervise administrative accounts of the project (collect and sort the records and prepare the financial reports of the activities);

To supervise and follow up AVSI local staff and partners in the implementation of the activities, in order to ensure the accomplishment of the donor procedures and the achievement of the project’s expected results and objectives;

To prepare all needed project’s documents as work plans and reports describing the activities according to sizes and timelines required by the donor, ask the local partners for any missing information or documents, and send the report to AVSI Italy;

To organize and supervise the work of the expatriate and local staff employed by the project and reporting unexpected changes that alter the timetable of the activities provided.

To update and supervise the financial resources needed for the implementation of the project, in collaboration with the administrator and with the country representative;

To develop relationships with the local counterparts, government institutions, civil society organizations and other entities involved; maintain relationships and be the reference point with AVSI headquarter in Italy – to facilitate and ensure monitoring of the program.

Collaborate in the writing of new project proposals;

To be available and follow the requests done by the representative in order to well facilitate the work when necessary, even overtime.

 

 

Essential Requirement:

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in related fields, with experience in the economic and social development sector;

Fluent in written and spoken English;

Previous work experience with international NGOs;

Knowledge of main donors’ policies and procedures, especially of the Italian Cooperation;

Excellent and proven experience in Project Cycle Management;

Ability to set high standards for quality of work and flexibility in a stressful environment;

Ability to manage human, technical, administrative and financial resources;

Ability of working in team;

Results oriented.

Master degree in the field of Economics, Development Studies, Social or Political Science, International relations, Project Management;

Strong ability to take care of partnerships and relations with donors and national authorities;

Computer skills;

Good communication skills;

Ability to perform under pressure and in stress conditions;

Capacity to work autonomously and of problem solving;

Proven organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.

Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
