EU/FAO FLEGT programme announces a new call for proposal

FAO administers the EU’s program of Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT). The program is open to government institutions, civil society, and private-sector organizations in timber-producing countries engaged in FLEGT’s Voluntary Partnership Agreements (Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Central African Republic, Congo, Dem Rep Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Laos, Liberia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam). UN working group Issue Zero Draft with 17 SDGs

Sustainable-Development-Goals-to-Replace-Millennium-Development-GoalsThe Co-Chairs of the Open Working Group (OWG) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have issued the “zero draft” of goals and targets. Titled ‘Introduction and Proposed Goals and Targets on Sustainable Development for the Post2015 Development Agenda,’ the zero draft proposes 17 SDGs to be attained by 2030, as well as associated targets. OWG Co-Chairs Macharia Kamau, Permanent Representative of Kenya, and Csaba Kőrösi, Permanent Representative of Hungary, note in their 2 June letter to all UN Member States that the zero draft includes a proposed focus area to “reduce inequality within and among countries,” which brings the number of proposed goals to 17. UN Women and MasterCard – Project Inspire 2014

ispireProject Inspire is a joint initiative from the Singapore Committee for UN Women and MasterCard to help create a better world for women and girls in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. The competition is open to entrepreneurs aged 18-35 whose projects aim to benefit women and/or girls in the indicated regions through entrepreneurship and business literacy. EU-FAO program on forest management

20140123_2FAO has announced the call for proposals under the program “EU-FAO Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade” (FLEGT EU- FAO). This program provides grants to governmental organisations and NGOs in signatory countries of Voluntary Partnership Agreements (VPA) with the European Union (see map). The program aims to increase information, knowledge and experiences between groups of local stakeholders by supporting actions to improve the understanding of FLEGT. Deadline: May 31, 2014.
