Scadenza candidature 08/02/2026 POSITION: GCF Project Coordinator ORGANIZATIONAL AREA: Programme Development and Management Department PLACE OF WORK: Rome, Italy REFERS TO: Sub-Saharan Africa Lead, under functional supervision of Grant Management Coordinator CONTRACT TYPE: 12 months co.co.co COMPENSATION RANGE: € 34.000 - 37.000 SAFEGUARDING LEVEL : 1 JOB PURPOSE Within the framework of the GCF funded project AY4SF the Project Coordinator will play a coordination and operational role, ensuring project delivery through financial and programme oversight, with high quality standards and compliance with donor rules and requirements. Acting as the primary operational liaison between Save the Children Italy and the office in Zimbabwe as well as between SC Italy and the donor accredited entity, SC Australia, this role will also ensure appropriate information sharing with all relevant stakeholders, in close coordination and under the supervision of the Sub-Saharan Africa Lead. Key Responsibilities: Award Management
  • Runs all AMS workflows related to the project cycle (agreement, amendments, close out), including the upload of contractual documentation on AMS and Sharepoint
Project Monitoring and Oversight
  • Contributes to project kick off meeting (support the presentation of donor compliance and provide guidance on internal reporting guidelines) and project launch
  • Monitors that project is kept up to date on PRIME, to ensure access to main progress documents, such as the monthly/quarterly review status
  • Ensures support and supervision through recurrent calls with CO
  • Provides in country technical support through field visits
  • Together with the Accredited Entity (SC AUS), supports the development of quarterly project dashboards (progress, spend, risk/challenges)
  • Supports the CO in updating project documents such as: DIP, workplan, ITT update
  • Acts as primary focal point for the CO in case of project-related challenges and may refer to the AE as necessary for joint problem resolution
  • Coordinates with CO on scope and ToR for project baseline, midterm, final evaluations and supports CO on contracting of consultancies for baseline, midterm, final evaluation
  • Coordinates with the Regional Portfolio Manager for Southern Africa to ensure alignment between the project and SC ITA regional strategy, to flag potential issues of concern, highlight good practices and lessons learnt stemming from the project.
  • Reviews project transition and exit strategy to allow for project close-out
Budget monitoring/oversight and donor compliance
  • On a quarterly basis, reviews financial reports, including the actual spending, mark-up component, Accredited Entity and member costs, provides support on budget review and phasing
  • Provides donor compliance support to the CO, keeps the team up to date with changes in donor regulations/lessons learnt from other projects by liasing with other members
  • Supports the CO on updating risk analysis and risk tracking
  • Supports the CO and the AE on annual external audit and on implementation of audit recommendations
  • Monitors project spending on a monthly basis and shares alerts on potential issues
  • Shares updated data with Finance on spending, budget forecasts and annual closure.
Coordination
  • Liaises with AE to review the risk dashboard and determine whether the CO needs additional field support
  • Escalates significant risks and challenges to AE and SCI as they occur
  • Holds recurrent catch-ups with AE on project progress, challenges and problem solving as per agreed ways of working between
  • Coordinates with SC ITA technical advisors to provide technical support to the CO during project implementation
Evidence and Learning
  • Facilitates the learning sharing process within the GCF account group
  • Supports the CO in project level learning and evidence collection
  • Inputs on aggregation of data and GCF portfolio wide analysis, led by AE
Partnership Management
  • Supports the CO in partnership management, including review implementing partner agreements, case by case problem solving, partner capacity building
Resource mobilization
  • Supports fundraising efforts with new donors and proposal development for new interventions, with specific focus on GCF and GCF-related intervention
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in project management, including at least 3 years in budgeting, financial monitoring, and reporting
  • Advanced degree in International Development, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or related fields.
  • Solid knowledge of international institutional donors' rules and regulations
  • Proven experience in managing large, complex grants, preferably in consortium or with multistakeholders governance set-ups
  • Knowledge of climate programming, with a focus on FSL and youth interventions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; strong ability to lead interaction with a diverse audience of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written
Desirable Competencies
  • Experience in Southern Africa, preferably Zimbabwe
  • Previous experience with child-rights organizations and understanding of children rights
  • Previous experience with large organizations
