Purpose of the role
The Programme Coordinator supports the Country Manager (CM) in coordinating all projects in Angola by directly supervising Project Managers (PMs) and ensuring the achievement of target goals. The role drives operational excellence by improving project reporting, enhancing communication between HQs, country coordination office, and field teams, strengthening project development processes, and supporting staff performance management.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Reviewing and quality-checking project reports submitted by PMs
- Monitoring project deadlines and donor requirements in close collaboration with PMs and Country desks at the HQs
- Assisting the CM in preparing and conducting project monitoring and evaluation visits, as required
- Conducting performance evaluations for PMs, providing constructive feedback and identifying strengths, areas for improvement, and professional development opportunities
- Assisting and representing the Country Manager - where required - in meetings with government counterparts, donors, and key stakeholders, as well as in events of strategic relevance to the NGO.
- Assessing, reviewing, and collaborating on the drafting of project proposals to be implemented in the country
- Supporting the CM in organizing official missions for HQ staff, donor project visits, and institutional exposure trips
Requirements
- University Degree in Health Sciences, Political Science, International Relations or related fields; a Master's degree or equivalent in Public Health is desirable
- At least 3 years of experience managing cooperation projects in resource-limited countries/contexts. Experience in managing health projects is an advantage
- Good command of Portuguese and Italian is essential for communicating with local and Italian stakeholders; knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Ability to build institutional relationships

- Dynamism and flexibility
- Willingness to travel for field missions to existing project locations and/or prospective operational sites.
TERMS OF CONTRACT
Type of contract: collaboration contract
Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the position, with possible increase based on professional experience)
Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work
Flight ticket: one return flight
Medical provisions: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs
the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa and work/residence permits
Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it can be individual or shared, depending on the logistical situation, the availability at the workplace and the available budget.
Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker
