Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first NGO focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now one of the leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The NGO promotes long-term health cooperation projects, intervening also in emergencies to ensure that services are available to all.
Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 11 Sub-Saharan countries: Angola, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda.
The NGO supports public and non-profit hospitals, local districts, schools of nursing and midwifery, university faculties of medicine.
CUAMM’s action focuses on health system strengthening and targets the weakest population groups, particularly women and children. Interventions include prevention, screening and treatment programmes; development or strengthening of referral systems at community level; training of health staff; management support and technical assistance to local health institutions; field research.

JOB POSITION

Job position: Project Admin/Finance Officer
Location: Accra, Ghana
Duration: 12 months

Purpose of the role
Working closely with the Project Manager, the Admin/Finance Officer will oversee the administrative management of the project “COMPAS - Multidisciplinary Cooperation for the Adaptation, Support and Strengthening of Hospital Equipment Management and Maintenance Systems in Ghana / AID 013426/01/0”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), ensuring compliance with administrative and procurement procedures, preparing financial reporting, and supervising the management and maintenance of accounts by local accountants.  

Key duties 

• Managing project bank accounts, transfers, currency exchanges, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Maintaining up-to-date project accounting and ensuring proper archiving of all financial documentation.
• Reviewing and verifying partners' monthly financial reports
• Monitoring budget consumption against activity progress, forecasting expenses, and flagging variances.
• Supporting the Project Manager in budget amendments and quarterly fund requests.
• Assisting in staff recruitment, drafting employment contracts, and maintaining updated HR files.
• Ensuring compliant processing and payment of staff salaries and national taxes.
• Managing office/compound rental agreements, utilities, and timely payments for security services.
• Overseeing procurement procedures, tenders, and drafting service/construction contracts.
• Guiding project partners to ensure full compliance with organizational and donor procurement guidelines.
• Preparing administrative and financial documentation for internal/external audits.
• Supporting the Project Manager in financial reporting.

Requirements

• University degree in Economics, Finance or equivalent title
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
• Good knowledge of written and spoken Italian
• Mastery in using accounting applications
• Good knowledge and experience with AICS procedures and financial reporting rules
• Previous professional experience in admin/finance management of international cooperation projects in fragile countries and/or low-resources settings
• Good interpersonal skills and proactivity

TERMS OF CONTRACT
Type of contract: collaboration contract
Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience)
Annual leave: 2.5 days for each month of work, for contracts longer than 4 months
Flight ticket: one return flight at the beginning and at the end of the collaboration
Medical provisions: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs
Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for the entry visa to the country of service, any professional registration, work and residence permits 
Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it can be individual or shared, depending on the logistical situation, the availability at the workplace and the available budget. 
Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker
