WORK CONTEXT

In 2018, given Cesvi previous presence in Venezuela and the presence of A2015 partners in the region, Cesvi decided to start humanitarian interventions in Colombia and Venezuela in support to vulnerable population affected by the Venezuelan Crisis.

Different project proposals have been developed in collaboration with A2015 partners and submitted to different Institutional Donors.

In particular, the collaborator will manage the implementation of Cesvi component of a project aimed at providing regional humanitarian assistance in response to the Venezuelan socioeconomic crisis and its migratory consequences in Colombia and Venezuela, in close coordination with project’s partners, with focus on Protection sector.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 The collaboration will start in August/September 2019.

The main duty station will be Bogotá, with frequent field missions in Colombia and Venezuela.

The collaborator will manage the project and contribute to the enhancing of Cesvi response to the crisis and presence in the Countries.

Main tasks related to project management:

  • s/he will directly plan project activities;
  • S/He will consolidate quantitative and qualitative reports as per donors and Cesvi requirements;
  • S/he will work in close in collaboration with project’s partners (both national and international)
  • S/He will provide technical inputs and quality oversight during the implementation of the project
  • S/He will ensure that all activities are in line with international standard of Protection
  • S/He will conduct regular visits to monitor the implementation of programmes and to provide technical guidance;

Main tasks related to enhancement of Cesvi presence in the area:

  • S/He will represent Cesvi vis-à-vis Donors, partners (including Alliance2015), stakeholders, clusters,coordination bodies, fora and any other appropriate networks aiming at raise Cesvi’s profile within the country;
  • S/he will support to set the strategic vision and direction of the Cesvi in the area to serve more people with the highest quality programming possible and secure the necessary resources to ensure its realization, expanding Cesvi activities in the area and identifying new funding sources;
  • S/He will take the lead in the development, drafting and consolidation of new project proposals in liaison with the HQ.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  •  Degree in International cooperation, Development studies, Social Studies, or other related field;
  • At least 8 years’ working experience in developing countries as expatriate in the humanitarian sector, preferably with INGOs in Latin America; of which at least 3 years in the sector of Protection and with migrants/refugees;
  • In-depth understanding of Protection Sector, related international standards, and guidelines, in particular in contexts of migration and displacement;
  • Demonstrated capacity and experience in managing humanitarian projects, preferably addressed to protection of migrants;
  • Proven ability in development of needs-based and context-based project proposals (including budgets);
  • Strong representation, communication and diplomatic skills;
  • Capacity to effectively manage relations with Donors, potential Partners (international and national NGOs) and local authorities;
  • Ability to build networks and partnerships;
  • Highly flexible with the ability to set priorities and change programmes according to issues that may arise;
  • Excellent knowledge of Spanish and English, written and spoken;
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous working experience in Colombia and Venezuela;
  • Previous experience in managing humanitarian projects funded by ECHO;
  • Previous experience in working in consortia with international and national partners;
  • Strategic thinking and innovation;
  • Adapts and copes with pressure;
  • Respectful and culturally sensitive.
