CONTEXT OF THE MISSION
Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organisation whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over.
the Italy mission was opened at the end of 2015 in response to the difficulties arising from the increase in migratory flows. To date, MdM is present in Calabria, Sicily and Lazio with programs aimed at promoting access to the physical and psychosocial health of migrants and refugees, with particular attention to the health of women and minors.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
In strong collaboration with the other members of the multidisciplinary team and under the responsibility and coordination of the project manager, the consultant provides technical support to the MdM programs in Calabria and Sicily
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
Contribution to Mapping and need assessment
- Support to conduct the preliminary need assessment for the identification of the target area in line with MdM strategy;
- Support the development of the mapping of the health and psychosocial services in the areas of intervention,
- Support the development of the programme tools for need assessment
Deliver Training and PSS activity
- Conduct the Training Needs assessment on psychosocial issues of frontline responders, (like service providers, operators of centres for asylum seekers, police, translators/cultural mediators/interpreters and other frontline workers) in coordination with the programme team;
- Contribute to organize training for service providers (health professionals, police, doctors, social workers and Psychologists) based on needs assessment results; Develop agenda, identified external trainee etc.
- Develop and conduct training module on psychosocial support to operators of selected reception centre/local associations etc to guarantee appropriate case management and referral;
- Organise, implement and follow up the psychosocial activities with migrants (focus minors women and young adults) according the project requirements.
Planning, Reporting and coordination
- Contribute to development of the programme team work plan and objectives; and ensure a close coordination with the project team peers;
- Ensure regular reporting on the progress of the set objectives and timely provide timesheet and activity report according to the reporting system;
- Maintain good socio-professional relationships with partners and beneficiaries;
at the request of the project manager and in cooperation with the project team, it implements other activities planned and designed according to the needs identified
REQUIREMENTS
- An advanced degree in clinical psychology, or in any other relevant field (Bachelor Major in Psychology or Master/Specialization in Clinical psychology)
- Valuable experience in training and supervising social workers and psychologists (at least 3 years)
- Experience of counseling/psychological support/psychotherapy in emergency situations with people affected by conflicts (at least 3 years)
- Experience related to psychosocial/psychological assessment
- Experience in Community Psycho-education
- Previous work experience with international organizations
- Knowledge of MHPSS international guidelines
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Managerial skills
- Excellent writing skills and Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Italian and English (both written and spoken). French is a plus
