RES4Africa Foundation is committed to working with African countries to create an enabling environment for
renewable energy investments at scale. As private sector and member-driven organization, the Foundation
acts as a bridge between its members and African partners for an exchange of perspectives, initiatives and
expertise across companies and institutions working across the Renewable Energy value chain. As a neutral
platform for public-private partnership, the Foundation work includes promoting policy dialogue and
delivering advisory services to countries on what it takes to enable RE investments; spearheading innovative
community driven energy market solutions. And, transferring knowledge and building capacities to empower
people, create business and transform institutions.
The Energy Analyst will support the RES4Africa Foundation’s Access to Energy team efforts in research and
analysis, developing knowledge products and operational instruments to strengthen its advocacy action and
international positioning. She/he will also support new project development efforts, from energy market to
socio-economic analysis to on-field pilot projects. The Energy Analyst will be dedicated 60% to research and
analysis, and 40% to project management support.
Responsibilities
Research and analysis
Support the implementation of RES4Africa Foundation strategic access to energy agenda.
Support analytical work and development of publications focused on access to energy, energy market landscape and trends, socio-economic analysis and energy business models.
Support teams in developing knowledge products and operational instruments including the preparation high-level publication and country specific energy related technical reports.
Support the Communication Unit to write articles for specialized journals, websites and magazines.
Project management support
Identify market trends and opportunities for developing innovative solutions and piloting projects to further access to electricity and productive use of energy in Africa.
Manage and/or support access to energy (e.g., rural and peri-urban electrification, Water-Energy-Food Nexus projects, etc.) innovation and pilot projects.
Coordinate working group of RES4Africa members and partners to deliver assigned projects.
Support the preparation of project reports, budget and internal documentation.
Support the relationships and cooperation with project partners, Foundation members and local stakeholders.
Preferred background: master level degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Business, or in a related
field of study.
Seniority: at least 2 years of experience in international companies, consulting firms, NGOs, with demonstrated ability to engage on a range of issues in the energy sector in African Countries.
Skills: excellent analytics, writing and synthesis skills. Advanced use of Microsoft Office package. Ability to
work in a multi-cultural environment. Tact, diplomacy and a commitment for confidentiality are fundamental.
Language: excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Working knowledge of French will be
a plus.
