Project summary:
Mediterre3 promotes the reduction of fire-related GHG emissions in 3 target landscapes in Greece, Montenegro and France, by enhancing the capacities of decision and policy makers and practitioners on the application of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) principles for the fire-smart restoration of landscapes. The project will deliver 3 Landscape Action Plans engaging landscape managers, land users and policymakers aimed at applying FLR principles at landscape scale. This will increase the capacity to secure adequate long-term support through funding mechanisms addressing land degradation and climate change. Upscaling in Mediterranean Region will be secured by the MedfForVal network of Mediterranean high value ecological forests.

Duty station: Milan (Italy) or home-based with regular meetings in Milan and at least 1 visiting mission to each of the 3 target landscapes, in France, Greece and Montenegro.
Description:
We are looking for a Project Manager (PM) with technical background as forest biologist / forest agronomy / agroecology expert.
The PM will coordinate the overall management of the project with support from the Programme Manager of the International Cooperation Department and of the Project Administrator of Istituto Oikos.
This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, in addition to theoretical and practical competences in forest resource management.
Main tasks:
- Project coordination including the preparation of interim and final reports
- Technical support to local partners for the drafting of the Landscape Action Plans:
- Monitor progress of the three Landscape Working Groups (LWG) setup by the project
- Provide guidance with specific reference to the identification of the FSL measures and of the priority areas of intervention
- Support the organization of the Final International Workshop planned for October 2023 at Luberon Park (France) for knowledge sharing
- Promote knowledge sharing and dissemination of project results, also through the mobilization of the members of the MedForVal network.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in similar roles
- Good level of organisational and operational autonomy as well as ability to manage economic and human resources
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in English language
Additional assets:
- Specific experience in FLR projects in the Mediterranean area
- Knowledge of other project languages (Italian, French, Greek, Montenegrin)
