Aim of the position:
Luigi Giussani High school (LGHS) is born out of the experience of Meeting Point International (MPI), a Ugandan non-government organization. Active since October 1992, MPI has become known for its unique approach to HIV/AIDS which places a person’s inherent value and dignity as being of greater importance than any of his/her circumstances. MPI invests in education as an avenue for self-discovery: it is a way for individuals to find their own worth and pride which comes with great human responsibility. For this reason, MPI desired and created the LGHS in 2010. It is a secondary school where the 530 students are accompanied in all the important aspects of the educational process and introduced to skills that include, among other things, analytical and problem-solving skills, creativity, flexibility, mobility, entrepreneurship and digital technology. These skills are necessary for personal development and responsible citizenship.
Over the years, this secondary school has become an educational community where teachers, non-teaching staff, parents, students, government agencies, non-governmental organizations and donor agencies have particular roles to play in ensuring quality education. This is possible when teachers, parents and students are all involved in the educational process, appreciating the fact that education should train people capable of facing all the challenges of life, developing their potential, values and attitudes, taking on their commitments and responsibility. With this type of approach, the person, unique and inimitable, becomes aware of his infinite value and capable of promoting the growth of the whole society.
