Role: Project Manager

Duty Station: Bo, Sierra Leone (with periodic visits to project sites)

Supervisor: 1 Program Coordinator AVSI SL; 2nd Country Representative AVSI SL

Functional supervisor: Focal points of the EnDev program and thematic area (Clean Cooking and Energy)

Project presentation:

The projects are designed to address two key energy themes: clean cooking energy and the productive use of energy. On one front, these initiatives seek to achieve the following objectives: 1) Enhancing Market Development for Improved and Clean Cookstoves: This involves comprehensive support for both the supply and demand aspects of the cookstove market. It also includes efforts to foster a favorable environment conducive to market expansion. 2) Facilitating Increased Generation and Access to Modern, Sustainable, Affordable, and Reliable Energy: This dimension aims to contribute to the generation and availability of modern, sustainable, cost-effective, and dependable energy sources that can support economic growth and job creation. These actions collectively strive to address the energy challenges within the specified thematic areas, ultimately working towards improved energy access and utilization for the benefit of the communities and households involved.

Job description: Responsibilities and tasks

  • To pursue all projects objectives.
  • Ensure the planning and implementation of projects activities under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator and the functional oversight of the EnDev Focal Point and thematic focal points (Clean Cooking and Energy Efficiency);
  • Coordinate project activities in partnership with the EnDev back stopper or Projects Managers.
  • Maintain regular contacts with operational and institutional stakeholders involved in projects implementation.
  • Formulate operational documents, analyses, reports, and summaries related to projects implementation or necessary for its smooth progress and/or required by the funding agency and coordination.
  • Manage interventions and monitor beneficiary training.
  • Facilitate an effective and efficient reporting and monitoring system for project interventions.
  • Monitor projects results, outputs, and impacts and ensure their quality.
  • Produce periodic and final progress reports, narrative reports, and financial reports for the funding agency.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation and data collection.
  • Ensure the effective participation of stakeholders in various projects’ interventions and activities.
  • Collect or create and transmit disbursement requests and financial justifications.
  • Contribute, in accordance with internal procedures, to the supplier, consultant, and service provider selection process (preparation of terms of reference, contracts, memoranda of understanding, etc.).
  • Contribute to the development of AVSI (resource mobilization, project identification and development).
  • Establish and facilitate mechanisms to promote synergy, buy-in, and participation of other actors involved in similar activities in the field.
  • Foster synergies with other AVSI projects and raise awareness among all AVSI staff regarding potential synergies, in coordination with program coordinator.
  • Supervise and monitor tasks and activities carried out by the projects staff.
  • Supervise and coordinate the running of project office and facilities in coordination with project logistician and financial manager.
  • Collect and transmit any information requested by the Program Coordinator and the Country Representative.
  • Perform other specific tasks as requested by the Program Coordinator and the Country Representative.

 

Education: (Preferred) master’s degree in business and economy/green economy, International Cooperation and Development. Energy engineering; (Accepted) bachelor’s degree in business and economy or international Cooperation and Development.

Work experience: required experience in Renewable Energy, Efficient use of Energy, Energy access.

Language Proficiency: English written and spoken.
