The Italian NGO EducAid is looking for a PROJECT MANAGER for its operations in Palestine.

Role: PROJECT MANAGER IN PALESTINE

Duty Station: Jerusalem and Ramallah – Palestine

Project Partners: Al Quds University, Bologna University, Macerata University.

Possible starting date: March 2024

Contract duration: 12 months renewable (with 2 months trial)

Deadline for sending applications: 15th March 2024

TYPE OF PROJECT: international cooperation program, UE funded, on the topics of Disability and Inclusive Education in the Jerusalem Governorate in Palestine.

The project will implement Inclusive Education activities such as: schools works / structural accessibility for the inclusiveness of students with disabilities, school equipment, training activities for teachers, training activities for University students in Jerusalem in the Special Education course of Al Quds University, soft activities to improve the inclusive education.

The Project Manager will have to coordinate the activities with main stakeholders such as: the Minister of Education, UNRWA, private schools, to coordinate and guarantee the activities implementation.

It is also required to follow up the project financial administration, in collaboration with EducAid accountant.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: Proven experience in management of international cooperation projects (European Cooperation, UN funds and EU funds) with particular reference to the topics of Inclusive Education and “Disability”. In-depth knowledge of the Palestinian context.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (preferred): Degree, Master;

Communication and documentation skills, use of social media and photography are appreciated.

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Good ability to work in institutional contexts;
  • Strong relationship and negotiation skills with local stakeholders;
  • Problem-solving ability in complex situations;
  • Leadership and team building skills;
  • Excellent ability to adapt to difficult contexts;
  • Ability to work towards objectives even in stressful situations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of the Arabic language is an advantage.

COMPUTER SKILLS: use of the Microsoft Office package, internet browsing, e-mail, use of cloud platforms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Project Manager will have to coordinate the activities with the main stakeholders such as: the Minister of Education, UNRWA, private schools, the project donors (UE and other minor donors for the project co-funding) to guarantee the activities implementation.
  • Human Recourses management both local (such as: project coordinator, logistician, accountant, Education Expert, Gender expert etc..) and international (i.e.: organization and follow up of the international expert that will visit Palestine for the implementation of the training activities on site; coordination of the remote online training activities etc.).
  • Responsible for achieving program objectives;
  • Management, coordination and monitoring of all program activities;
  • Coordination and supervision of administrative and financial aspects, including financial program management and expense registration and reconciliation;
  • Drafting of periodic reports (narrative and financial) in English language;
  • Project design and need assessment to develop EducAid intervention in Palestine;
  • Promotion and development of EducAid activities in the intervention area;
  • Keep an active coordination and reporting to EducAid direct responsible in Palestine and in the HQ (in Italy).
