Assistant Project Manager
Istituto Oikos (www.istituto-oikos.org) founded in Milan in 1996, operates in Europe and in developing countries to promote the responsible management of natural resources and to spread more sustainable life models as tools for socio-economic development and to fight against poverty. Istituto Oikos has a PSEA policy that the successful candidate must respect and promote. Since 2023, Istituto Oikos has been working in Thailand to empower local civil society and stakeholders in protecting and preserving marine and coastal environments. We promote community forestry and nature-based solutions to combat coastal erosion and enhance ecosystem resilience. Position: Assistant Project Manager Contract Type: contract of collaboration Remuneration: monthly gross salary range 1600-1800 Duration: 6 months Starting date: starting in September/October 2024 Duty station: Trang, Thailand Activities:- Support the implementation of project activities under the supervision of the PM, according to Istituto Oikos' internal procedures, including the preparation of quarterly and annual technical reports;
- Support the PM in managing the project budgets, ensuring that the financial resources available for the projects are spent following the donor's procedures and the project budgets;
- Support the organization of local and international expert missions;
- Collaborate with technical and financial supervisors in planning project budgets and managing monthly operating costs (office rent, utilities, maintenance, fuel) to ensure the financial sustainability of the local office;
- Support, under the supervision of the Central Office Administrator of Istituto Oikos, the administration, contracts, and procurement based on Oikos procedures;
- Support in identifying and defining project proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in one of the following fields: environmental sciences, forestry, natural sciences, biological sciences, economics, social sciences;
- Proven experience of at least 2 years in international cooperation projects of which at least 1 year in a developing country (preferably in South East Asia);
- Interest with respect to the issues and mission of Istituto Oikos, specifically: participatory natural resource management, strategies and mechanisms to address climate change, food security, renewable energy, social enterprise;
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills;
- Good computer skills,
- Ability to adapt to rural locations, work in teams, build relationships and strengthen networks.
- Experience with coastal ecosystem management projects.
