Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first NGO focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now one of the leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The NGO promotes long-term health cooperation projects, intervening also in emergencies to ensure that services are available to all. Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 10 Sub-Saharan countries: Angola, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda. The NGO supports public and non-profit hospitals, local districts, schools of nursing and midwifery, university faculties of medicine. CUAMM’s action focuses on health system strengthening and targets the weakest population groups, particularly women and children. Interventions include prevention, screening and treatment programmes; development or strengthening of referral systems at community level; training of health staff; management support and technical assistance to local health institutions; field research. CUAMM's international and national staff work together on the front line to strengthen local health systems, in resource-limited contexts where the commitment and contribution of the individual can make a real difference. Start date: December 2025 - January 2026 Job position: Project Manager Location: Abidjan, Ivory Coast Duration: 12 months * The NGO reserves the right to close the application process once the position is filled. Purpose of the role The Project Manager will be responsible for two projects aimed at ensuring access to quality maternal and child health services by supporting a network of FBOs (Faith-Based Organisations) health facilities, strengthening coordination between FBOs and public facilities and carrying out community-based health promotion and education activities. Project activities include training on health management and clinical management, rehabilitation, equipment supply, clinical support to FBOs health facilities, improving the referral system between FBOs and public facilities, health education and screening at community level. Key duties:
  • Ensuring proper project management of the project and its resources (human, financial and material resources)
  • Liaising with local health authorities, managers of FBOs health facilities involved, partners and other organisations working in the area
  • Coordinating the implementation of project
  • Ensuring the dissemination of project results
  • Preparing periodic reports requested by donors
Requirements
  • University Degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, International Relations or related fields; specialisation or Master in PH will be considered an asset
  • Previous experience in managing and coordinating health cooperation projects in fragile or low income countries
  • Project management experience with FBOs or experience in management roles within FBO facilities
  • Good knowledge of French and Italian, essential for communicating with local and Italian stakeholders
  • Ability to build institutional relationships with the various stakeholders involved
  • Good communication skills

TERMS OF CONTRACT Type of contract: collaboration contract Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the position, with possible increase based on professional experience) Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work Flight ticket: one return flight Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa and work/residence permits Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker Due to the high number of applications, please note that our recruiting team will contact only short-listed candidates.
