Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first NGO focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now one of the leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The NGO promotes long-term health cooperation projects, intervening also in emergencies to ensure that services are available to all. Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 9 Sub-Saharan countries: Angola, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda. The NGO supports public and non-profit hospitals, local districts, schools of nursing and midwifery, university faculties of medicine. CUAMM’s action focuses on health system strengthening and targets the weakest population groups, particularly women and children. Interventions include prevention, screening and treatment programmes; development or strengthening of referral systems at community level; training of health staff; management support and technical assistance to local health institutions; field research. CUAMM's international and national staff work together on the front line to strengthen local health systems, in resource-limited contexts where the commitment and contribution of the individual can make a real difference. Start date: April 2026* Job position: Project Assistant Location: Moxico, Angola Duration: 12 months * The job position is subject to project approval Purpose of the role The Project Assistant supports the Project Manager in the day-to-day organization, coordination and management of a project focused on promoting the access to clean cooking and improving the health conditions of vulnerable families. Key duties
  • map local and international partners present in the area of intervention
  • ensure ongoing relations with local authorities
  • collaborate with the PM on the preparation of periodic narrative reports required by the donor
  • ensure the production of visibility material relating to the implementation of project activities
  • collaborate in the production, dissemination and publication of project results
  • ensure the constant availability of project data, collaborating in their analysis
  • support the PM in human resources management and in organising internal training on project-related topics
Requirements
  • University Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics or related fields
  • Previous experience (e.g. volunteering or civil service) in international cooperation in fragile or resource-constrained contexts; previous experience in Africa and/or in the role will be considered an asset
  • Good knowledge of Portuguese and Italian
  • Good communication skills
  • Dynamism, flexibility and adaptability
TERMS OF CONTRACT Type of contract: collaboration contract Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience) Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work Flight ticket: one return flight for the first collaboration for up to 12 months Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa, professional registration, work and residence permits Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker Due to the high number of applications, please note that our recruiting team will contact only short-listed candidates.
